Hi, my name is Marc Griggs.

I have spent most of my adult life working in animal welfare in some capacity - nursing, hydrotherapy and clinical management, primarily for charities such as the PDSA, the RSPCA and CHAT. As such, when I began my journey in photography it made sense to combine my love of animals with my passion for being behind the lens and creating memorable images.

During my time at the London Institute of Photography, the head tutor noted my work has a natural love of life and the bonds created between people, and the animals in their life - whether it is owner and pet, or vet and patient. This is something I really try and focus on, but in a way that is honest and in the moment, avoiding staged or posed shots, instead bringing the patience nursing taught me to wait for natural, realistic images to occur allowing the personality of my subjects to really shine.

My clinical experience in veterinary practices and hospitals (where I still work part time) means that I understand how to conduct myself in stressful and pressure filled situations as well as how to behave in a sterile environment, along with recognising stressed or frightened animals.

My passions outside of photography are reading, art, watching my favourite baseball team mostly lose, cooking a range of plant based recipes, spending time with my partner, being a bit of a nerd and exploring London culture.
